It’s summer solstice, the longest day of the year. In Finland and other Nordic countries, it is a special time where many people go into the countryside to a summer cottage, seeing family and friends, have sauna, swim in the lakes, barbeque and emerge in summer feeling.

For me, it is not only a summer moment but also the time to look towards autumn and winter. It is impossible not to think about the nights getting longer and so, the possibility to see next northern lights again coming slowly closer. I know… but I just can’t help it 🙂

As the seasons are on my mind, I thought to post photos from a project I started early 2019. It shows four photos of the same location, captured during different seasons. Here, you see the island Pikisaari, right next to the center of Oulu. A wonderful area where the river floats into the Baltic Sea.

I love the diversity of the seasons and if anyone asked, it would be near impossible to say what the best season is.

Hope you are safe and well!
