Winter is really ending, the snow melts everywhere and rivers break free of ice. It’s a strange feeling, having daylight almost around the clock already. A few days back I was out at river Kiiminkijoki and everything changed – compared to winter. I’ve been at the same spots a lot and it was always very silent, just the night and me. Now, the power of the melting water breaks the river ice into smaller pieces, the roar of rapids is incredible. Nature is waking up, like a bear after hybernation. Standing there and seeing the drama and brute force – I could have watched for hours and hours.

Further down along the river at narrow streaks, the ice collects to big ice dams. I wished to walk on the big field but instead I let my drone fly and capture the beauty in photos and video as well.
