A few hours ago I saw the first northern lights of the new season! For a long time it seemed it will not happen, but suddenly there was the pale-green band in the sky for a few moments. It was such a joy to see Lady Aurora again after her ‘summer vacation’.
Last year, I saw the first lights on August 12th. Since a few days there is high-speed solar wind coming from the sun which made the lights bright enough already tonight.
Below the aurora you can see noctilucent clouds (NLCs) and of course the twilight of the not-so-dark night. A few weeks to go and then we will have proper darkness, so the lights will be much easier to spot. There was some morning mist which made it kind of mysterious out there, an incredible atmosphere.
Check out the photo, can you see the aurora reflection in the lake?
Thank you for sharing this fantastic photo!
